Velocity Bike School offers progressive mountain bike programs with talented and experienced coaches certified by the International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA). Our unique and personalized approach combines core skill development and on-trail riding to help you take your riding to the next level!
 
 

Mountain Bike 100

For riders new to riding off-pavement.

Overview

Mountain Bike 100 is for riders new to riding off-pavement.  Using IMBA’s core fundamentals we’ll teach you the basics of gearing, braking, and body position before heading out on the trail to use your new skills.

Level: Novice

Basic knowledge of hand brakes and gears. Main riding experience is on pavement or flat dirt roads/paths. Very few experiences on trails with small roots, rocks or much incline. This class is where you will build the foundational skills to feel confident on changing terrain.

  • Mountain Bike in good repair* (We recommend having a tune up done by a local bike shop before class)

Mountain Bike 101

Gain confidence, develop skills, have fun!

Overview

Using IMBA’s proven teaching methodologies, our programs will help you safely progress your skills. Perfect for riders looking for a fun and affordable introduction to Mountain Bike skills development using the six skill system and focusing on bike control, braking and cornering. Mountain Bike 101 is the best way to gain confidence and learn how to practice mountain bike specific skills.

Level: Beginner

You're hooked on riding off-road and wide dirt trails (fireroads), but still lack the skills and confidence to consistently ride narrower single track terrain with roots, rocks, tight corners, tight trees and steeper inclines and declines.

Mountain Bike 200

Ride better, faster and more confidently.

Overview

Already taken our Mountain Bike 101? Then Mountain Bike 200 is the next logical step! Appropriate for advance beginner and low intermediate riders. We'll use the six-skill system to build on the foundation laid in 101 by exploring bike control, cornering, roll downs and line selection. On-trail clinics will focus on what will help you to become a better rider.

Level: Advanced Beginner to Low Intermediate

You commonly ride singletrack. You enjoy singletrack with some small obstacles but need to build your skills on riding over roots without getting stuck or stopping half way through. You are able to ride for at least 1-2 hours at a time.

Allison Pfefferkorn

Allison thrives at being an instructor because of her love and appreciation of the outdoors and her desire to help people improve and become more confident in their skills. Allison started mountain biking in college and has since become a Level 2 IMBA certified instructor. Allison also works as a fitness instructor and is able to blend mountain bike skills with confidence development to empower peoples riding! She brings lots of encouragement and energy to each ride.

Linda has made working outdoors a career and a lifestyle not only by teaching mountain biking skills but also working in team building, team development, and as a canopy tour guide. Her years of experience in leading intentional programs for people makes her an excellent ride guide and Level 2 IMBA certified skills coach.

Nate Pfefferkorn

Nate made the transition to mountain biking after years of riding motocross and loves the places you can see from the saddle. As a coach Nate has an invitational style that encourages people by recognizing what’s good in their riding and maximizing on it. As a Level 2 IMBA instructor he’s still excited to learn and he loves seeing guests “get it” by the end of a session.
